It was an instant business friendship as owner Bryce and I hit it off by collaborating on a fund raiser. We also kept bumping into each other at various charity fashion shows, where I would be asked to be a juror and Bryce, a judge. The things we have in common are we both want our customers to get more for their money. We are both about good prices. Plus we belong to Shop Local Raleigh and know how important it is to support local businesses which in turn improves our local economy This sale is going to be a way to clear out old inventory at bottom of the barrel prices, while introducing our customers to their shop and vice versa. Grand Opening Party, September 24!

The gala is being planned for Saturday, September 24^th at 5PM, when Pulse102 will be arriving to broadcast live until 7PM. Drinks and wine will be provided as well as delicious hors d’oeuvres donated by ADORE’s good neighbor, Margaux Restaurant. Then the festivities will change with the addition of a popular DJ and a fashion show and performance by Models for Charity. There will also be free lottery drawings during the course of the evening. This is a party and celebration and open to all; the more the merrier!

This night will also bring awareness to the fact that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and ADORE will be supporting Striving for More’s (www.Striving4More.org) latest project on making care packets for newly diagnosed families. Both ADORE stores will have boxes accepting needed items for these care packages. Founder Diane Moore works tirelessly to help improve the emotional and spiritual care of the children and their families going through this very trying time, and all of us at ADORE so admire her.

Fashion Show!

We are proud to be partnering with our neighbor, The Clothes Hound, and holding a mother daughter fashion show (featuring our customers) to benefit local animal rescue Adoption Option at our another one of our Brennan Station neighbors, Oliver Twist. Make Fashion Your Own: What I Want to Wear Now

Let’s be honest; I love fashion and the arts. And yes, I do follow trends via mags, the street, and bloggers. However, I listen to my own drummer and wear what makes me feel like I am expressing myself. So this entry will be just from my little viewpoint, about how I plan on interpreting what I see for myself for the coming season. Take what you want from it, and as always I am always happy to give my opinion on other looks for other people. After all, we don’t all want to look the same.

The maxi skirt and dress is here to stay for awhile, and I have enjoyed wearing both for casual attire. I plan on putting even more maxis into my fall wardrobe.

The over-sized look (a la a cross between the 1980s new romantic look and the 1980s Japanese loose structured designs) is something that is peaking my interest. No balance with this look; think the sloppy Mary Kate Olsen style… big and baggy over big and baggy. I look forward to wearing a big slouchy sweater over a long skirt.

As I stated in the summer, I am also wearing big bells, whether they be jeans or dress slacks. For me the tighter the upper leg, the better. I will be pairing these with tailored suit jackets for fall, as the suit look is exciting me. I recently wore a vintage men’s plaid suit (with giant platform wedges, of course) and just loved the way I felt. It was the first time in a very long, long time that I had on a pleated front pant, but it worked and actually made me look thinner.

Be creative and be daring–If you make a mistake, you can usually always run home to change!

The Cary store is happy to be a sponsor of and participant in this year’s Cary Scavenger Hunt. What a fun day for the teams rushing all over town! Stop in the Cary store in the morning on Saturday, July 23rd to witness the hilarious goings on.

The north Raleigh store is swinging. Meeting all the local customers has proved to be fun, and there are some fabulous consignors “up” there!
